It’s that time of year again! Get your walking shoes on and start a healthy habit of Walking with Ease. The Scotland County Health Department and the Scotland County Fitness Center will be having a “Walk with Ease” program by the Arthritis Foundation.

This will be a six week fitness program to help improve your health, reduce pain and feel great. This program will start during National Public Health Week on April 8, 2016. The Scotland County Fitness Center will be open free of charge every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. for six weeks for those who sign up.

Start by talking to your physician before starting any exercise program. To participate, please sign up by calling the Scotland County Health Department at 660-465-7275 or Scotland County Fitness Center at 660-465-2999.

Remember that some of the benefits of regular exercise are: reduces your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, diabetes and obesity; keeps joints, tendons and ligaments flexible which makes it easier to move around; reduces some of the effects of aging; contributes to your mental wellbeing and helps reduce depression; helps relieve stress and anxiety; increases your energy and endurance; helps you sleep better and helps you maintain a normal weight by increasing your metabolism.

So come join in on the “Walk with Ease” program one day a week at the Scotland County Fitness Center. This program will start during National Public Health Week on April 8, 2016. Those who meet their goals, will be entered into a raffle for a “Free” three month membership from the Scotland County Fitness Center at the end of the six weeks.
