National Nursing Home Week is being celebrated May 10th through May 16th 2015. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Bring on the Fiesta”.
In observance of Nursing Home Week, the Scotland County Care Center will be hosting several events meant to encourage residents, families and other relatives to reach out to and visit with their loved ones and caregivers.
The week will begin on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10th with an Ice Cream Social at 2:00 p.m. Lonnie Erwin will be entertaining that afternoon.
On Monday, May 11th, the dress theme for the day is yellow. Leon Buford will lead devotions at 10:00 a.m. followed by Churro cookie making at 10:30 and a photo booth/craft time at 2:00 p.m. Ann Luther will be playing the piano throughout the week.
On Tuesday, May 12th the dress theme for the day is National Nursing Home shirts or blue. Nancy Tague Platz will give a presentation on Ella Ewing at 9:30 followed by a Margarita & Taco activity at 10:30 with residents and staff and then at 2:00 is Pinata Fun.
The dress theme for Wednesday will be red, white and green. Dr. Harlo Donelson will lead devotions at 10:00 followed by Pass the Sombrero at 10:30 with frozen hot chocolate and cinnamon sugar tortilla chips. At 2:00 will be a Cactus Roundup.
On Thursday, May 14th the dress theme is orange. Joe Fulk will lead devotions at 10:00 and the 10:30 activity will be Maraca Fun with Three Milk Cake and mock Sangrias. The SCCC Queen Pageant will be held at 2:00 and a hymn sing by the Scotland County Larger Parish will take place at 7:00 p.m.
The dress theme for Friday will be pink. Cathy Campbell will lead devotions at 10:00 followed by Cinnamon Donuts and coffee at 10:30. At 2:00 p.m. will be a showing of the movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua with pop and popcorn.
The week’s activities will conclude on Saturday, May 16th with the 18th Annual Car Show. Registration will start at 9:00 a.m. with judging from 11:00 – 1:00, awards at 2:00 p.m.
