The Scotland County Ministerial Alliance met August 7 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Those present were Mark Appold, Troy Barrett, Karen Biggs, Marie Ebeling, Dan Hite, Pam Glasgow, Diane Koontz, and Jack Sumption.
Marie Ebeling was present to update the group on the School Backpacks. A total of 183 students were served from 72 families in five counties. There were 22 people who helped pack. Two volunteers provided 17 haircuts during the event. The total expense for the project was $5,152.27. The Alliance also served the prayer lunch for school faculty and staff on August 16. It was a great success.
The group also held a vesper service for Antique Days on August 23.
The food pantry ministry needs a person to operate the pallet jack on Wednesday delivery days. Mr. Hite reported on a group with which he is meeting to discuss how to promote a drug free community. The young people in the community need alternatives to drug use.
The alliance always appreciates congregations reviewing their giving and helping with regular offerings to the alliance.
