A Memphis woman was hospitalized in Kirksville following a one-car crash in Adair County at 7:43 a.m. on Friday, January 24th.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Judith A. Sharp, 65, was westbound on Highway 11, approximately 6.5 miles east of Kirksville when she fell asleep at the wheel of the 2005 Toyota Corolla she was driving. The car ran off the left side of the roadway, before Sharp overcorrected, forcing the vehicle off the right side of the roadway where it struck a highway sign before overturning.
Sharp suffered moderate injuries. She was transported by Adair County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage in the crash. It was removed from the scene by S & H Towing of Greentop.
The Patrol was assisted at the crash scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the Kirksville Fire Department and the Adair County Ambulance.
