Memphis City Parks & Recreation has announced a number of activities planned for August for participants of all ages.
The 2nd Annual Kids’ Camp will be held Friday, August 4th. Check in at Johnson Park begins at 4:30 p.m. Camp will run from 5 – 6 p.m. The camp is for boys and girls ages 4-6. Cost is $5 per child and will be limited to 10 participants. Register at City Hall by July 31st.
Snacks will be provided for the children, who will be led in a number of activities and projects.
A rain date of August 16th has been set.
The Parks Department will host a photo scavenger hunt on Thursday, August 24th at Legion Park.
Teams of 2-4 members will need a cell phone with photo capability, a vehicle, as well as a good sense of humor.
Cost is $10 per team for those who pre-register by August 18th at City Hall. Registration is $15 up to the night of the event with a portion of the proceeds being paid back in a prize pool. Registration will start at 5:30 p.m. with rules distributed at 6:15 p.m. for the 6:30 start of the hunt.
Memphis Parks & Recreation will host a co-ed sand volleyball tournament on Saturday August 26th beginning at 1 p.m. at Johnson Park, north of the pool hall.
Entry fee is $50 per team, with teams of three men and three women taking the court for a best two out of three games match.

A fall co-ed sand volleyball league is also being formed. Play will run from September 7th – October 12th.
Games will be played weekly on Thursday evenings beginning at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $50 per team. Concessions will be available.
