A Memphis man was seriously injured in a Sunday morning accident when the grain truck he was attempting to back up on a pond dam,overturned.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Robert W.Shelley was flown by Air Evac helicopter from the scene of the accident around 10 a.m. on December 9th. He was transported to University Hospital in Columbia.

Shelley was attempting to back up a 1981 Chevrolet C70 grain truck when the truck overturned on the pond dam. The accident occurred on private property, approximately 12 miles northwest of Memphis.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office, Scotland County Fire and Rescue and the Scotland County Ambulance Service.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage in the accident and was towed from the scene by Lakeside Towing of Memphis.
