A Memphis man is facing a felony charge of child molestation following an investigation initiated by a Division of Family Services hotline call.

According to court documents, James F. Wood, 72, of rural Memphis was taken into custody on June 14th by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department and charged with one count of class B felony child molestation in the first degree stemming from an alleged incident in November of last year involving a 12-year-old girl.

Wood was held in the Scotland County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond (100% required). The bond was later reduced to $100,000 with 10% ($10,000) required.

Wood currently is out on bail, with a court hearing set for June 19th at 9 a.m. in the Scotland County Circuit Court.
