Kaitlyn McMinn held Bevier to a lone run with a solid pitching performance and blasted a three-run homer to help lead SCR-I to a 12-1 win in the opening round of the North Shelby Tourney on Saturday.

Sophomore Kaitlyn McMinn pitched a complete game and also cranked a three-run homer on Saturday morning in the opening round of the North Shelby Tourney as Scotland County bashed Bevier 12-1.

A pair of walks and an error allowed SCR-I to jump on top 1-0 in the first inning. The Lady Tigers tacked on two more tallies in the second inning courtesy of an RBI ground out by Katie Feeney and a run-scoring single by Kaylyn Anders.

SCR-I kept climbing the ladder, putting up three runs in the third courtesy of a three-run homer by McMinn that made the score 6-0.

Bevier trimmed the deficit to 6-1 in the fifth inning, but SCR-I answered with four more runs. McMinn doubled and came in to score on a base knock by Feeney. After Anders was hit by a pitch and Creek walked, Stevi See cleared the bases with a three-run double to push the margin to 10-0.

In the sixth, Khloe Hamlin reached on an error and Kylee Stott singled, before Feeney delivered a walk-off double that plated both runs to end the contest by the 10-run rule.

McMinn notched the win, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out four.

Feeney went 3-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. See and McMinn both went 2-3 with three RBIs and Anders was 2-3 as SCR-I smashed out 10 hits in the win.
