Mark Alan Smyser, 54 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at his home in Lancaster, Missouri on Thursday, April 18, 2019.

The son of Everett Quinten and Martha Lou (Hartsock) Smyser, he was born on March 16, 1965 in Kirksville, Missouri.  He was a 1983 graduate of Schuyler R-I Schools in Lancaster, Missouri.  After high school, Mark moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where he worked in the oil fields for several years.  He then moved back to Missouri and enrolled in Sullivan Educational Center in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated with a degree in HVAC-R, which led to his current career with DEEM LLC.

Mark was united in marriage to Wendy Gehrke on August 15, 1987 and to this union one daughter was born, Alexa. On September 6, 1996, he was united in marriage to Ava Christine Tuley and to this union two children were born, Olivia and Lincoln.

Survivors include his wife, Christy Smyser of Lancaster, Missouri; his children, Alexa Smyser and friend, Dustin Schempp of Kirksville, Missouri, Olivia Harris and husband, Daniel of Lancaster, Missouri and Lincoln Smyser of Lancaster, Missouri; four grandchildren, Payton Schempp, Rylan Cook, Hudson Schempp and Jaetyn Walter all of Kirksville, Missouri; his mother, Martha Smyser of Kirksville, Missouri; his father and stepmother, Quinten and Marie Smyser of Lancaster, Missouri; one sister, Debbie Smyser of Kirksville, Missouri; two brothers, Kevin Smyser and wife, Millie of Edgerton, Missouri and Aaron Smyser of Kirksville, Missouri; special family members, Manley and Mary Smyser and Brad and Dana Drummond of Glenwood, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Mark is preceded in death by one brother, David Smyser.

Mark was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church and attended regularly as long as his health permitted.

His passions were his grandchildren, sprint and stock car racing and most recently go kart racing with his son, Lincoln.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Billy Wallace, Pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church assisted by Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating. 

Music was provided by Margie Tippett, pianist and Cole Tippett, soloist performing special musical selections of “Cross My Heart” and “Home”.

Pallbearers were Trent Snowbarger, Ryan Groseclose, Jeremy Brown, Jarrod Hollenbeck, Mike Halliburton, Danno Ochs and Matt DeJong.  Honorary pallbearers were Team Deem, Roman Schooley, Matt Smith and Dustin Stewart. 

Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri. 

Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund or Downing Show Me Speedway.
