Local Gunners Compete in 4-H State Shooting Sports Event

On September 21st, with half of its members shooting at the State 4H shoot, the Trap Team traveled to shoots in Milan and Green City. The team was made up of A-Team shooter Keenan Bradley and B-Team shooters Chayton Cerroni, Lane Mohr, Kyle Clark and Randan Kraus with Nick McDaniel as alternate. They took home 1st place honors at Milan with Cerroni grabbing high individual with a score of 24 out of 25. They also captured 3rd place at the Green City shoot. On Tuesday, Sept 24th both teams took place in the Area III shoot in Macon. They had to place in the top 7 teams to advance to the District shoot. The A-Team placed 2nd shooting 116 out of 125 advancing to the District competition. Next, they traveled to shoots in Paris and Columbia on Saturday, Sept. 28th. They faced tough shooting conditions at both shoots and pouring rain in Columbia. The A-Team still managed to place 3rd at Paris and grabbed 1st place at Columbia. A total of 177 shooters shot at Columbia and Howes was the highest finisher from Memphis in 6th place out of the 177. The final shoot was the District competition in Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 5th. Again they faced tough conditions with some rain and cold temperatures. This time they endured some tough luck and finished 12th. Howes shot one perfect round of 25. They had a wonderful season placing in all regular season shoots. They had two 1st place finishes, one 2nd place finish and four 3rd place finishes. Along with 4 shooters shooting perfect rounds of 25, so I think they should be proud of their accomplishments.
