Every Collegiate Livestock judger’s dream is to be able to judge at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. That dream came true for two local sisters on January 13, 2017.

Tasha and Taylar Eggleston-Wood recently competed in Denver, Colorado with the John Wood Community College (JWCC) Livestock Judging Team. The two of them competed in the Carload Competition.

The National Western Stock Show was held January 7th-22nd and is known as the Super Bowl for the livestock industry. The Carload competition involved 120 contestants and six classes of cattle and one questions class. Each class had 16 head of cattle in it which were divided into “pens” of four.

Tasha finished with a score of 320/350 (54th place) and Taylar finished with a score of 303/350 (91st place). The team has also competed at the American Royal in Kansas City, MO and the Purdue Boilermaker in West Layfette, Indiana.

Tasha and Taylar are currently completing their Associates Applied Science Degree at JWCC; both are majoring in Animal Science and plan to obtain a Beef Specialist Certificate. They will be graduating in May of this year. They are members of the Animal Evaluation Club and Ag Club.
