Award-wining blues musician Mike Zito is returning to Memphis. The Lil’ Memphis Blues Society has booked a return show for Zito, who is no stranger to local music fans. He’ll be playing Sunday, August 13th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kiddoo’s Red Barn, north of Memphis.

“Make Blues not War,”, Zito’s latest album, was recently released by the Ruf Records label. The album also features Walter Trout, Jason Ricci and Zach Zito. It marks his 12th release, dating back to his 1998 debut, “Blue Room”.

His second nationally released album under the Eclecto Groove label, Pearl River, won the artist the 2010 Blues Music Awards song of the year for the title track. He followed that up with Greyhound, which in 2011 was nominated for BMA’s Best Rock Blues Album.

Zito, fresh off a six-week tour in Europe and the northeast United States, is returning to his Midwest roots. The St. Louis native will be dashing across Kansas, Oklahoma and Illinois before returning to the Show-Me State. He’ll be in Kansas City Friday evening before the Sunday show in Memphis. The following week will find him in Cape Girardeau before he heads to St. Charles to perform at the Ameristar Casino on August 17th.
