The Lake Show Me Disc Golf Course will kick off 2019 with a pair special events this spring.

The Lake Show Me Disc Golf Course is set to kick off the 2019 season with a special grand opening that will feature a pair of high profile tournaments.

Dynamic Discs and Latitude 64 will present the 2019 United States Amateur Match Play Championships (USAMPC) at the new Memphis course in April.

Lake Show Me will host the match play championships for the northeast Missouri region April 13th and April 20th.  The first 2 rounds will be played April 13th 2018 Starting at 10:00 a.m. with rounds three and four to be played April 20th 2018 starting at 10 a.m.

Players will receive a Dynamic Discs Lucid-X Escape and Latitude 64 Zero Medium Keystone in their player pack. Winners of local qualifying brackets will move on to the state bracket play with the opportunity to advance from there to the Championship Bracket in Emporia, Kansas June 20-23, 2019 where they will crown a United States Amateur Match Play Champion.

Local USAMPC singles qualifier match play brackets will be held throughout the United States and Canada in April.

Match play is an exciting way to compete as a disc golfer. Match play has grown in popularity and the unique format provides an opportunity for using a different strategy than what disc golfers typically employ playing traditional stroke play.

The event also allows amateurs another opportunity to experience tournament disc golf at the highest level.

Then in May, the course will host the  Lake Show Me Sling presented by Latitude 64 on Saturday, May 11th. The C-tier PDGA sanctioned singles tournament will be a two round competition. Player check in is from 7:30 –  8:30 a.m. followed by the player meeting.

Lunch will be available for purchase onsite and proceeds will benefit the Memphis Parks & Rec Department.

The Dynamic Discs Chasin the Chains Tour RVs have been hosting events for years and will be making their first visit to Memphis.  Amateur player packs include a $10 voucher and a Chasin the Chains Stamped Tour Disc. Novice divisions will be trophy only divisions.

With the tournaments approaching the City of Memphis will kick off the spring disc golf league in April. The league is played at both Johnson Park as well as Lake Show Me.  If interested, contact City Hall for more info.

The new Lake Show Me Disc Golf course is already one of the highest rated courses in the state.  Disc golfers have traveled over 400+ miles to play the course, which features two tee locations for every hole, located along the scenic lake front course with length that challenges even the most avid players.

The development of the course was aided by the volunteer assistance of more than 20 area golfers.

“Any age can play disc golf and discs can run under $20,” said parks director Michelle Drummond. “For the walkers out there, this is a beautiful course to walk.  It takes approx. an hour to walk the 2.2 mile course.”
