Shortstop Kylee Stott fires the throw to first base.

Scotland County overcame an ominous start October 2nd against North Shelby and went on to rout the Raiders 17-1 in Memphis.

The visitors jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the first inning. A walk and a pair of errors allowed the Raiders to load the bases with just one out. A walk forced in a run before SCR-I was able to record the second out when Madie Bondurant threw home on a grounder to nail the runner trying to score. Kaitlyn McMinn closed the door on the threat with a strike out to end the inning.

SCR-I got the run right back in the bottom of the first and the offense never let up. Katie Feeney led off with a double. After a bunt single by Hannah Feeney, Bondurant walked to load the bases with no outs. A walk to Kylee Stott tied the game at 1-1 before Khloe Hamlin gave SCR-I the lead with a sacrifice fly. After a walk to McMinn loaded the bases, Abby Blessing made the score 5-1 with a double that plated three runners.

Scotland County tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Lady Tigers put the game away in the bottom of the third. Walks loaded the bases for Kaylyn Anders who delivered a two-run single to open the flood gates as Scotland County plated nine runs to end the game by the 15-run rule.

McMinn held North Shelby to one unearned run on just one hit and two walks while striking out two in three innings of work.

Abby Blessing was 1-2 with a run scored and four RBIs. Hannah Feeney was 1-1 with four runs scored and Anders and Katie Feeney each went 1-3. Scotland County benefited for 15 base on balls in the contest to improve to 7-8 on the year.
