Kenneth Lee Ebling, 79, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Overland Park, Kansas on July 20, 2017.
He was born on September 23, 1937 to Kenneth Clark and Dorothy V. (Hardman) Ebling in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kenneth attended elementary schools in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. His junior and senior high school years were in Kansas City, Kansas.
He attended Baker University at Baldwin, Kansas and graduated with his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Kansas University at Lawrence, Kansas.
He engaged his passion for education by teaching art and mathematics at Indian Hills and Milburn Junior High Schools in the Shawnee Mission Kansas School District.
Ken also spent years educating himself by learning about the arts of holistic healing and massage therapy.
On June 16, 1963, Kenneth married Nelda Joyce Rudy, daughter of Parley and Grace Rudy, of Memphis, MO. To this union one son, Vinton Eric Ebling, was born on December 7, 1967. He later married Patricia Parish, and Shirley Tomlison.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Dorothy Ebling; his grandparents, Lee and Merle Hardman and Will and Mary Alice (Hale) Ebling; uncles, Melvin (Hazel) Hardman, Hale (DeLonne) Ebling; aunt, Lena (Johnnie) Mallett Smith; cousins, John William Mallett and Bill Ebling; and his ex-wife, Patricia (Parish) Ebling.
He is survived by his son, Vinton (Evie) Ebling and grandsons, Lukas, Heathclyff (Heath), and Harrison Ebling of Belton, Missouri; his ex-wife Nelda Ebling Billups of Memphis, Missouri; cousins, Betty Alice (Jack) Blackwell of Sedalia, Missouri, Neil (Susie) Hardman and family of Woodland, California, Carol Hardman (Bill) Rose and family of California, Helen Mallett and family of Anamosa, Iowa; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were held at 6:00 p.m. on July 29, 2017 at Restoration Church in Independence, Missouri, with Paul Anderson leading the service and reflections were shared by several others.
