Ila McRobert of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Keokuk, IA died on April 22, 2019.
She was born on June 28, 1934 in rural Scotland County, Missouri, the daughter of Leland and Irma McRobert.
Ila graduated from Memphis High School in 1952 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Education through Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. She earned her Master of Arts Degree from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College.
Ila moved to Keokuk, IA in 1957 after teaching three years in rural Scotland County. She then served as an elementary school educator and administrator in the Keokuk Community School District for 43 years until her retirement. She was also a volunteer teacher in the United States Peace Corps, serving in rural Ethiopia from 1971-1973.
Ila was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for many years.
During her retirement, Ila relocated to Florida, and in 2017 moved to Arizona to be with her daughter and grandchildren.
She was an avid bridge player, excellent cook and hostess, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Irma McRobert, and a brother, William “Bill” McRobert.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Thad Hardeman of Tucson, Arizona; a brother, Dr. L.M. “Max” McRobert of Venice, FL; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Paul Townsend of Keokuk, IA; grandchildren, Samuel, Isaac, Meredith, Sylvia and Yvette; many treasured nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services were held April 30th at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 1212 Concert St., Keokuk, IA with Pastor Olson of the New Testament Christian Church officiating. Burial was at the Greensburg Cemetery in Greensburg, Missouri.
