The Missouri Department of Conservation will be holding a Hunter Education Skills Course on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Firehouse in Memphis. Students must be 11 years of age or older to receive certification. Students are required to pre-register by going online at www.missouriconservation.org. Once on the site, look for the Hunter Education icon. Click on Hunter Education and register for the class.
Missouri’s Hunter Education Program has been revised from its previous outline. Now students must complete a portion online or they must work through the student manual on their own. Student manuals may be picked up from Conservation regional offices or other approved locations. Once the student has completed the manual and answered the questions at the end of each chapter, they may enroll in the skills course. The skills course will allow students to show what they have learned through hands on activities and demonstration. At the end of the skills portion each student must successfully pass a written exam to receive certification.
