Good news!! We will be having our annual Lawn Party Saturday, August 23rd. Lunch will begin serving after the Antique Fair Parade at 11:00 a.m.
Elaine Forrester will be in charge with all her helpers. That old maple tree will have enough shade for all. We will set up the tables and chairs as we have done before and you can stay as long as you desire.
In addition, you will want to see the Museum Complex. We have such a variety of items and memorabilia donated throughout the year. You will see some of the earliest tools, furniture, clothes and miscellaneous items. We’re sure you will be surprised at the variety in the complex.
Your donations can still be made and that is what keeps the Museum Complex open each year. Stop by and see the changes and upkeep that have been made year to year.
Our Gift Shop will also be open, so browse through the variety of items for sale. We have rag-rugs, coverlets (red, green and black), books, postcards, sweatshirts, T-shirts, etc.
You can also rent the Downing House Complex. We have had both high school and family reunions where people can get together for lots of visiting…all for just a small rental fee.
Some of our visitors are people who are home visiting while others are attending high school graduations or reunions. Surely you will want to visit this Old House and Complex while in Memphis. Put that into your schedule this year. We’ll be looking for you!
Our first Lawn Party was held in 1977. We can always use volunteers. Wouldn’t you like to help?
