Haley Darcy puts down a bunt during the Lady Tigers loss to Highland on Saturday morning.

Saturday morning’s conditions were cold and rainy, but Highland did the rest to make it a miserable morning for Scotland County as the Cougars crushed SCR-I 16-1 in just three innings in the opener of the Schuyler County Tourney.

Highland plated seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and led 8-1 before SCR-I finally got on the board in the top of the third. Abby Blessing singled and scored on a hit by Hannah Feeney.

Highland went on to score eight in the bottom of the third to end the game by the 15-run rule.

SCR-I was held to just three hits, singles by Blessing, Feeney and Khloe Hamlin.

Kaitlyn McMinn took the loss, surrendering seven runs, three earned, on six hits in the first inning. Highland tagged reliever Kylee Stott with nine runs, six earned, on six hits and six walks in an inning and two thirds of work.

Scotland County dropped to 6-7 on the year with the loss.
