A Hannibal man suffered serious injuries when he was thrown from his ATV Saturday night after the vehicle struck a deer.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Rodney J. Kagel, 45, was driving a Yamaha 350 ATV on County Road 369, 13 miles southwest of Memphis, when a deer crossed the road. The ATV struck the deer and the driver was ejected.

Kagel suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was flown from the scene by Air Evac helicopter to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

The accident occurred at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 1st.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Ambulance Service and the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.
