Dear Editor,

“It has just occurred to us at home that, next to Christmas, Thanksgiving is the most colorful holiday of the year. The way God has blended the solid colors of brown and orange with yellow and green and once in a a while, punctuated with a bright red maple, prompted one of our grandkids to voice her opinion about all the holidays.”  That is the opening statement made by one among us as we were preparing to enjoy a sumptuous brunch.

Another, quote; “Well, out of the mouths of babes comes wisdom, they say!”  First speaker, quote, “My grandson told us he has decided God  put the idea of observing our various holidays into the minds of whoever was inspired to celebrate whatever. He is really impressed with the knowledge of God doing his thinking for him . Says it sure has made his school work easier.” Another, quote; “Good night! Let go and let God!” has been around for as long as I can remember!” shouted The Loud one, quote; “My Dad told me when I was a kid and I did, and it does work!”

Another, quote; “Yep. We learned it when we took classes at Unity School of Practical Christianity many years ago. Let go, and let God think through your mind and my Dad said he could almost hear God shouting, quote God; “HALLELUJAH!” because it really does happen and my kids got a whole lot smarter in a hurry by trying it! OH! The joy of that tiny bit of knowledge is phenomenal”

Quote another; “Where in the world is that school anyway?” and the answer was, quote; “Lee’s Summit near Kansas City.”  Quote; “Can anyone go there?” Quote “For a fee. We attended about forty years ago but we haven’t been back so we don’t know if it is or not. Another thing we learned is how to be Godly without thinking we will feel holy all the time. At least not straight-faced. One of the prime gifts of His Holy Spirit is JOY. A joyful spirit is a must! They taught us that Jesus is actually a man of many moods just as we are and could really feel anger at wrongdoing, like the merchants with the sacrificial doves at the Temple in Jerusalem. Being free of hate and grudges toward others just automatically  causes one to become clean and calm inside and grudge is replaced with love. Moods are kind of like God and Satan. We follow one or the other.”

Finally The Quiet One spoke, quote; “Along with “HAVE IT YOUR WAY LORD’ AS OUR BATTLE CRY FOR THE PEACE OF GOD TO PREVAIL WORLDWIDE, WE WILL ADD TODAY’S LESSON- LET GO AND LET GOD THINK THROUGH ME.” What say you?”

Our inspiring thought – a unanimous AMEN! from one and all was the response. After that, breakfast never tasted so good! One among us, quote; “It occurred to me that I should give thanks even for my arms when I saw a veteran with none, unable to wipe himself or drink a friendly cup of coffee. We really should thank our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for bringing us the truths of God. Be constantly grateful and humble.

Love and Blessings from ALL THE OLD TIMERS, with Bette Wiley
