A trio of Scotland County football players were honored for their outstanding 2018 football season by the Missouri Football Coaches Association with selection to the MFCA All State teams.
Quarterback Will Fromm was named to the all state second team. The senior completed 104 of 217 passes on the year for 1,871 yards and 23 touchdowns. He ran the ball 125 times for 834 yards and 11 TDs.
Matthew Woods was named to the all state third team at receiver. The senior caught 30 passes for a team-high 753 yards and 11 TDs. He also ran the ball six times for 40 yards and added more than 250 returns yards on kickoffs and punts.
Mason Kliethermes was named to the all state third team on the offensive line.
Mid-Buchanan’s Javan Noyes earned first team all state honors at quarterback as a sophomore while East Buchanan’s Tyler Schottel, a senior, was the third team all state quarterback.
State champions Hayti dominated the all-state selections with running back Ivory Winters named the offensive player of the year. He was joined on the all state first team by teammates Tylor Wooden at receiver, Louis Wright on the offensive line and Adreian Stevenson on the defensive line, linebacker Jason Weatherspoon and defensive back Nakwon Harris to give the Indians six first teamers. Stevenson was named the defensive player of the year while Hayti’s Dominique Robinson earned the Coach of the Year honors.
The Lewis & Clark Conference had several honorees including first team offensive lineman Nathan Sayre of Marceline and first team linebackers Ben Miller of Westran ad Isaiah Estes of Fayette. Marceline’s Cullen Bruner was named first team all state at kicker. South Shelby’s Brock Wood was tabbed the top athlete as well as the first team kick returner.
