A furious fourth quarter rally was not enough as Scotland County fell to Marceline 67-59 in the semifinals of the North Shelby Tournament on Thursday night.

The top seed in the bracket took it to Scotland County in the first half. Senior guard Jared Best had 10 points in the first period to help Marceline pull ahead 21-10.

Sturgis Knupp sank a three-pointer in the second quarter, but the Tigers were outscored 16-9 and trailed 37-19 at the intermission.

Knupp scored six points in the third period and Gage Dodge connected from behind the arc, but Marceline was able to maintain the 51-33 margin heading into the final period.

Scotland County caught fire in the final period. Dodge sank a pair of three- pointers. Aaron Buford also connected from behind the arc. Will Fromm did damage from the free throw line, sinking seven of eight but it was not enough as Marceline held on for the 67-59 victory.

Knupp led Scotland County in scoring with 17 points. Buford finished with 15 points and Fromm added 11 as Scotland County fell to 10-4 on the season.
