Four minors were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Downing at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 7th.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Shelby D. Bennett, 19 of Downing, was northbound on Route A in a 2000 Mercury Sable when she failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a 2005 Ford Explorer that was being driven eastbound on Highway 136 by Anthony R. Miller, 34, of Arbela.

Four passengers in the Miller vehicle sustained injuries in the crash. Jayden Burgess, 14, Sabrina I. Heimer, 13 and Kayden A. Miller 12, all of Arbela, and Bryson W. Miller, 8, of Memphis, all suffered minor injuries in the crash and were transported by Schuyler County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.

Neither driver was injured in the crash.  Both vehicles sustained moderate damage in the crash and were left at the scene to be removed later.

The Patrol was assisted at the crash scene by the Scotland County Ambulance Service, Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, Schuyler County Ambulance and first responders.
