A former Scotland County R-I school teacher has agreed to surrender his teaching certificate as part of a plea agreement entered last week in the Knox County Circuit Court.
Corey B. Stott, 39, of Arbela entered a guilty plea to the class A misdemeanor charge of stalking. As part of the plea agreement, Stott was sentenced to 12 months in the county jail, with the execution of the sentence suspended. Stott was ordered to serve 14 days of shock detention in the county jail, in two, seven-day blocks, within 30 days of the January 28th plea.
Stott was arrested on June 14, 2012 by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office on charges of inappropriate conduct towards a student on school property, a class D felony. as well as a class C misdemeanor of sexual conduct in the third degree.
Stott resigned his position as a vocational agriculture instructor and FFA advisor at Scotland County R-I on June 10, 2012.
As part of the plea agreement, Stott was required to surrender his Missouri state teaching certificate, and is to have no contact with the victim. He was placed on two years court-supervised probation and was assessed all court costs and ordered to pay the jail boarding bill.
