A former dispatcher was sentenced to serve 10 years in the Missouri Department of corrections for stealing drugs from the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office while she was on duty.
According to court documents, Ann M. Heevner, 35, of Wyaconda, was sentenced by Judge Thomas P. Redington on October 2nd to serve 10 years in the DOC on the charge of distribution of a controlled substance, a class B felony. She was also sentenced to seven years each on two additional charges of class C felony theft.
Heevner was arrested on September 27, 2014 by the Missouri State Highway Patrol after a sheriff’s office review of prescription drugs that were being stored in a locked filing cabinet, appeared to indicate some missing pills. Surveillance video of the area reportedly showed the suspect on three separate occasions between September 20-23, accessing the locked cabinet and removing pills. The video also reportedly showed the suspect delivering the pills to an unidentified individual off camera.
Heevner pled guilty to the charges at a July 17, 2015 hearing.
