As the beginning of school approaches once again, many students will need help getting their school supplies. The Scotland County Ministerial Alliance (SCMA) has teamed up with area churches, businesses and individuals to provide school supplies and back packs for students in the community.

Over the past couple years, SCMA has taken a love offering at the Scotland County Fair Vesper Service to help kick start the event. This year is no different, SCMA will take up a Love Offering at the Fair Vesper Service on July 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

“Please plan to join us early that evening for the 4-H Royalty Ceremony which begins at 6:30 pm and then stay for the Vesper Service which will include many local performers sharing their talents the Lord has blessed them with,” said volunteer Marie Ebeling.

The donations collected through the Love Offering will go directly into the savings account specifically designated for the “BACK PACK” program. The Back to School Supply Fair, headed up by SCMA, partners with IGNITE Ministries during its annual BACK to SCHOOL BASH. SCMA gathers funds, through donations, to supply kids with the necessary school supplies to have a successful start to the new school year.

“We will pass out the supplies to families who have pre-registered their student(s) on the Memphis Square the day of the Bash, which is set for Saturday, August 5th from 11:00-2:00 p.m.” said Ebeling.

She explained the process that SCMA and friends go through to make this event happen, starting with PRAYER. Funds are gathered through love offerings and generous community donations. Then volunteers are enlisted and they host a pre-registration date to sign students up while fielding phone calls also to register students, organizer order and pick up supplies and host a packing party where they individually pack each child’s back pack in accordance with the SCR-1 School supply lists for the student’s grade level. The back packs are distributed with the school supplies to families on the Memphis Square at the Bash.

“The process is extensive, but anyone who has helped in any way will be quick to tell you that when you help and give, you feel the most blessed,” said Ebeling. “Please plan to register your student(s) at the Pre-Registration Sign Up event on July 20th or by phone that week. Deadline to register is July 27th .”

By giving advanced notice, it helps make the task easier and assures everyone gets the supplies they need without extra work for the volunteers.

“Thank you for helping SCMA with this wonderful community service event,” said Ebeling. “It is such a blessing to see the body of Christ work together to meet the needs in our community. No matter what role you play, you really do make a difference in the lives of the students receiving supplies. Please come out and enjoy the start of the Scotland County Fair at Vesper on July 9th and bring an offering of what the Lord lays on your heart to give.”
