Don E. McCain, 71, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Palmyra, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra, Missouri. Reverend Drew Sutor officiated. Burial will be at a later date.

Don was born January 7, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Howard Golden McCain and Mantie Love Tucker Lillard.

He was married to Donna Mohr on November 24, 1967, in Dallas City, Illinois. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Deanna McDaniel (Buster) of Silex, MO; a son, Donald McCain (Nicole Budrys) of Grosse Pointe, MI; two grandchildren, Julian McCain and Kathryn McCain; three brothers, James F. McCain (Sandra) of Portland, ME, Jack L. McCain (Phyllis) of Auburn, AL, Tom W. McCain (Teresa) of Phenix City, AL; a sister, Karen M. Angle (Don) of Englewood, CO; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard McCain, Jr.; a sister, Katherine Terry Maletta.

Don was the former Principal at Palmyra elementary schools, retiring in 2000, after 23 years. He previously spent five years teaching 6th grade in Memphis, Missouri.

Don was Christian by faith.

He enjoyed woodworking and was a charter member of the Quincy Woodworking Guild. He also enjoyed gardening. He loved his dogs, Kasey and Sophie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack McCain, Tom McCain, Gary Gibson, Rob O’Dear, Jerry Lillard and Marshall Lynn Ewalt.
