Cole Leonard Anderson, 60, of Memphis, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Ottumwa Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa.
The son of James Leonard and Doris Hollie (Middleton) Anderson, he was born on November 1, 1956 in Centerville, Iowa. Cole was a graduate of the Schuyler R-I School System in Lancaster, Missouri.
Survivors include his children, Nate Plenge of Memphis, Missouri and Heather Boas and husband, David of Bloomfield, Iowa and their children, Hayden Watson and Hannah Boas; one sister, Gay Holman and husband Larry of Savoy, Illinois; two brothers, Hollie “Hod” Anderson and wife, Kathy of Lancaster, Missouri and Robert “Bud” Anderson and wife, Tawni of New Haven, Missouri; numerous aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; cousins and many friends.
Cole is preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Estelle and Dennis Drane; one son-in-law, Steven Watson and one nephew, Brian Scott Holman.
Cole attended the Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa with his family as long as his health permitted.
Cole lived in St John, Kansas for 12 years where he was employed as a cattleman for Dudrey Cattle Company and later for Fisher Farms. He moved back to Memphis, Missouri where he was employed for approximately 15 years by Walmart as a Transportation Specialist.
Cole never knew a stranger. He was a friend to everyone he came in contact with and would help wherever and whenever needed. He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially with the grandchildren, spending time at the coffee shop (liar’s table) and spending time with his livestock. The family is so very thankful for your prayers, words of encouragement, cards, flowers, meals, visits, rides and shared memories of dad. He meant so very much to his children and to many of you as well.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa with Gary Axtell, former Pastor of the Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa officiating. Music was special CD selections of “The Other Side” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Pallbearers were Fud Hinds, Randy Emel, Jason Emel, Randy Whitlow, Lance Miller, Sonny Smyser, Tom Hale, and Romie Doggett. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Shelley, Melvin Rodarmel, Stan Eggleston and the list goes on….
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Ottumwa Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at normanfh.com.
