Clarice Eileen Kice, 90, of Arbela, Missouri passed away Friday evening, August 26, 2016, at her home. The daughter of Clarence Hayden and Maude Esther (Leeper) Kittle she was born February 2, 1926, near the Azen community in Scotland County, Missouri.
She married Delmar Kice on November 25, 1945, at the Methodist Church in Memphis, Missouri and to this union two children were born, Jerry and Nancy.
After graduating from the Granger High School she taught at the Cedar Grove School for one year before taking classes at the Northeast Missouri Teachers College for her teaching degree. She then taught at the South Upton School for two years.
Later she went to work at Shellor Globe and the grocery store for a few years, before she decided to stay on the family farm to be with her children and help Delmar with livestock along with row crops.
Clarice was a member of the Plum College Extension and for years she enjoyed playing pitch card games monthly at the Plum College school house with the Arbela area family and friends. She was a member of the Arbela United Methodist Church.
Clarice loved her family, especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her many friends. She loved to read and enjoyed her roses and flowers at the family home.
On their vacations, Delmar and Clarice loved to travel. They would attend tractor pulls and enjoyed visiting with friends that they had made over the years as he built a sled for those state competitions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jerry Kice, a sister, Doris Kittle, a brother, Carroll Kittle, her sister-in-law, Reta Kittle and brother-in-law, Burdett Kice.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Kice of Quincy, Illinois; one grandson, Scott Kice of Arbela, MO; three great- grandsons, Cody Kice and special friend Terra Dean of Kahoka, Tristen Kice and special friend Lydia Hunt, and Gavin Kice of the home; a sister-in-law, June Kice of Memphis; along with nieces, nephews Gary Kittle and family of Memphis, Marla O’Donnell and family, Terri Bulen and family and David Kittle and family all of Arbela, Rhonda (Kice) Davis and family, Ron Kice and James Kice and several cousins and a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association or the Arbela United Methodist Church and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, MO 63555.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, August 30, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Marilyn Fitzgerald officiating with interment following in the Hickory Grove Cemetery at Arbela. Musicians were Reva Triplett, Pianist, and Angela Westhoff, vocalist. Pallbearers were David Kittle, Gary Kittle, Cody Kice, Tristen Kice, Wayne Bulen and Tom O’Donnell. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Kice, James Kice, Gary Nolt, Gary Fulk, Larry Fulk and David Dorson.
