Bernidene LaRue (Martin) Billiet of Phoenix, Arizona went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2018 at the age of 86. Bernidene was born on June 27, 1932 to Minor and Beulah “Ruth” (Eiffert) Martin at her grandparents’ home near Sublette, Missouri. She and her sister, Phyllis (Martin) Comstock, grew up south of Downing, Missouri on their parent’s farm and were blessed to have both sets of grandparents and many aunts and uncles living nearby. She attended Sperry and Brushy rural schools, Downing High School, and graduated from Carthage (Illinois) High School in 1950.

On July 11, 1948, she married Wendell Quentin Comstock and lived in Denver and Augusta, Illinois where they raised their three children: Tony (1950), Terry (1955), and Tracy (1958). She married Eugene (Gene) Billiet in 1984 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be near her first grandchild.

Bernidene was a devoted and loving grandmother to her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and helped to raise her grandchildren after their mother’s death.

She was a member of North Phoenix Baptist Church for many years and later was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Phoenix.

Bernidene was preceded in death by her parents, Minor and Ruth Martin; husbands, Wendell Comstock and Gene Billiet; son, Tony Michael Comstock; son-in-law, Michael Walton; daughter-in-law, Cassandra (Tilton) Comstock; infant nephew, Gary Lee Comstock; and brother-in-law, Junior Comstock.

Bernidene is survived by her daughter, Terry Alison Luer and husband Jeff Luer of Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming; her son, Tracy Linn Comstock of Williams, Arizona; five grandchildren: Christopher Comstock and partner Magdalena Hernandez of Williams, Arizona; Jimi Comstock and wife Haley of Bluffdale, Utah; Stevin “Bobby” Comstock and partner Amber of Phoenix, Arizona; Michelle Comstock of Laramie, Wyoming; and Nicole LeAn Hix and husband Layton Hix of Rapid City, South Dakota. Additionally her six-great grandchildren survive her: AnnaBella, Evalinn, and Lennon Comstock; Jack LaRue and Elijah Stevin Comstock; and Zander Hix; also her sister, Phyllis Comstock of Memphis, Missouri; nephew Craig Comstock of Unionville, Missouri; nieces Cheryl Eddleman of Kahoka, Missouri and Candace Magruder of Norman, Oklahoma and their families.

Bernidene enjoyed participating with charitable activities through her work with her Sunday School class at First Southern Baptist Church of Phoenix. Additionally, she often volunteered with assisting various Republican election campaigns in both Illinois and Arizona. Bernidene was an enthusiastic Girl Scout Camp Leader in Illinois for several years while her daughter was active in that organization. Bernidene is dearly missed by numerous loving friends and family members all over the U.S. She was a friendly, generous, compassionate disciple of Christ.
