Scotland County hitters got a taste of what the opposition must feel like after facing a dominating Thrasher pitching performance. Atlanta’s Collan Thrasher (no relation to SCR-I’s Austin Thrasher) kept the Tigers’ bats in check most of the night to help keep his team perfect on the season with a 6-1 win over SCR-I in Atlanta.
The home team jumped on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning with a leadoff walk and a double off starter Cordie Kigar. The senior hurler settled down and fanned the next two batters to work out of the jam.
Austin Thrasher knotted the score at 1-1 in the top of the second when he blasted a home run to center field.
That proved to be the lone blemish for Collan Thrasher, as he blanked the Tigers the rest of the way, fanning 12 batters and allowing just three hits while walking none.
Atlanta broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth when Marty Halley hit a two-run homer. Lane Waddled cracked a three-run dinger in the bottom of the fifth to make the final score 6-1.
Kigar took the loss on the mound, surrendering six runs on seven hits. He walked four while striking out seven.
The Tigers dropped to 8-3 on the season while Atlanta improved to 7-0.
