Whispering Pines Winery has once again struck gold. The Keosauqua, IA vineyard, owned by Steve and Becki Tucker, learned earlier this month that the locally produced 2011 Ramblin’ Rose New York 100% Cranberry wine had won a gold medal at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in Mendon, NY.
In its 12th season, the contest featured 64 judges, all with national and international credentials, from multiple markets in North America, Canada, South America, Australia, England, Germany, Israel, and France. Combined the panelists judged 3,198 wines.
“In perhaps their tightest competition ever, the Finger Lakes International Judges were able to award 82 Double Gold and 238 Gold medals in the judging,” said coordinator David G. Male.
Entries were submitted from 22 countries, 49 states, and 6 provinces in Canada.
To cap off the event, Whispering Pines agreed to donate one case of its award-winning wines to the organization for a charity auction for Camp Good Days and Special Times to benefit camp attendees, children suffering from terminal cancer.
Whispering Pines wine, White Diamond, brought home a silver medal from the competition.
