Jauflione Chapter, DAR, held the first meeting of the new season September 1, 2017 in the Presbyterian Church Fellowship room. The meeting was opened in ritualistic form by Regent June Kice. Chaplain Nelda Billups read from 2’nd Timothy followed by prayer and devotional.

Thirteen members and one CAR member responded to roll call by telling about their favorite school activity.

Debbie Kauk read the President General’s message. National Defense lesson was read by Patricia Miller. Katie Miller read Indian Minute. Verlee Dauma read Constitution Minute.

Minutes of the June meeting were read by Regent Kice in the absence of the Secretary.

Treasurer Kathy Kiddoo gave her report. Several attending paid dues for the 2017-2018 year. Kathy handed out the 2017-2018 program supplements. She also reported having $10.00 in Memphis Bucks left after paying the cost of printing the Supplements. This will be used to help defray the cost of our “Thank You Veterans” reception. The Memphis Bucks were earned from winning first place in the window display contest for the Antique Days Fair.

Registrar Patricia Miller reported progress is being made on documenting a prospective member’s application.

Kathy Kiddoo reported on the “Wheeling for Healing” bicycle ride to be held near Hartsburg, Mo. September 30th 2017. Proceeds go to benefit Veterans.

A direction for making “Quilts of Valor” for Veterans was discussed by Treva Wittstock. Connie Bratton reported she has a top pieced and ready to finish. Thank You, Connie!!

Members present recorded volunteer hours donated during August. This report will be sent to State by Secretary Rhonda Davis.

Regent Kice thanked the program committee that prepared the data for the Supplement booklet. She also thanked the committee that prepared the winning window display for the Antique Fair. This committee will also prepare a window display for Constitution Week September 17-23, 2017.

Members were asked to suggest ideas as to how our Chapter can commemorate the end of WWI.

Reta Stott reported contacting two publishers about our Chapter cookbook. She will have more information at the October meeting.

Regent Kice reported the Northeast District DAR Meeting will be held September 22nd in Madison, MO. June will have registration forms for any who did not get one from the regular meeting or it is available from the member’s website. Send to N.E. District directors by September 8th.

Kathy Kiddoo discussed having a fund raiser to help with the President General’s Project. Patricia Miller moved we have a fund raiser which will help the Chapter to be in 100% compliance with the President General’s Project. Mary Morgan seconded, motion carried. Details for the fund raiser will be discussed at the next meeting.

Business meeting was closed.

The guest speaker was Nathaniel Orr, the high school music instructor. He told of the Marching Band trip to Washington D.C. next spring. Plans are being made for various fund raisers to help cover the cost of the trip. We can be very proud that Scotland County R1 High School Band will be representing Memphis, Missouri in Washington D.C.

Delicious refreshments were served by June Kice, assisted by Katie Miller. During social hour Regent Kice displayed the various honors and certificates Jauflione Chapter earned during the 2016-2017 year.
