Seventh Grade Girls Claim Tourney Title, Finish Year 7-5

The Scotland County seventh grade girls basketball team completed the 2013 season with a 7-5 mark, including a first place finish at the Schuyler County Tourney.

The Lady Tigers opened the year with a 30-5 defeat at the hands of Clark County on November 4th. SCR-I's field goals came from Madie Bondurant and Khloe Hamlin.

The team had a better offensive showing the following night, but the results were the same as Clark County posted a 46-15 victory. Bondurant topped the scorebook for SCR-I with seven points. Hamlin had four points while Dystine Priebe and Kaylyn Anders each added a field goal.

The Lady Tigers got their first win of the year on November 11th, downing Schuyler County 22-6 in Memphis. Nova Cline led the way with 10 points while Hamlin and Priebe each pitched in with four points. Sayde Spurgeon and Anders added field goals in the winning effort.

Knox County dropped SCR-I to 1-3 on the season with a 26-12 loss despite a season-high eight points from Anders. Cline and Priebe added the other scores.

SCR-I pounded Putnam County 31-5 to get back into the win column. Priebe poured in 10 points in the win and Cline added eight points. Anders and Breauna Altobelli. Calista Ortiz added a field goal.

The Lady Tigers made it two in a row with a 24-4 victory over Schuyler County. Cline put up 11 points for the winners.

SCR-I swept through the Schuyler County Tourney with a 14-6 win over Milan in the semifinals. Anders led the way with six points and Altobelli and Priebe each added three points.

Putnam County was no match for the Lady Tigers in the championship game as SCR-I posted the 40-5 victory. Cline topped the scorebook with 14 points. Anders added eight points and Priebe finished with six. Hamlin and Altobelli each had a pair of field goals while Abby Blessing and Ortiz rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.

The winning streak grew to five straight when Scotland County dispatched North Shelby 17-8 on November 25th in Shelbyville. Cline had nine points and Priebe added four.

Knox County put the skids to the streak on December 3rd, besting the Lady Tigers 23-2.

SCR-I rebounded with an 18-10 win over Schuyler County on December 6th in Queen City. Anders, Altobelli and Hamlin each had four points in the win. Blessing, Priebe and Cline added two points.

SCR-I closed out the year with a 35-10 loss to Canton on December 9th. Anders was the leading scorer for the Lady Tigers with seven points.
