Tigers Knock Off Novinger 51-36

Lucas Howard puts up the shot in the paint during first half action of Monday night's victory over Novinger.
A sagging zone defense built to slow down SCR-I's leading scorer left the door open for some of the Tigers perimeters players to have big nights on Monday in Memphis as Scotland County knocked off Novinger 51-36.
Brice Cowell and Jacob Blessing stepped up with big first halves as the Tigers built a 20-point lead over the Wildcats.
Cowell was the man in the first period. While Novinger's defense focused on shutting down Lucas Howard in the paint, the junior aggressively attacked the defense off the dribble, resulting in seven points that helped SCR-I lead 11-5.
Blessing picked up the scoring load in the second quarter. The sophomore connected on three three-pointers en route to 11 points in the period. A bucket on an offensive rebound by Howard made it 31-11 at the intermission.
Cowell and Kigar each connected from behind the arc in the third period, but Novinger was able to trim the deficit to 43-25.
After a Kigar three-pointer made it 48-30 early in the fourth period, Novinger went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 10. That was as close as the Wildcats would get.
Blessing topped the SCR-I scorebook with 13 points as the Tigers improved to 10-12 on the year. Cowell finished with 12 points and Kigar and Howard each had nine points
