Leona “Bambi” Edwards passed away Saturday morning, November 30, 2013, at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis. The daughter of Jay Thomas and Alice Miller Caviness Edwards, she was born November 29, 1968 at Van Buren County, Iowa.

She attended the Van Buren school system during the time she was in school and lived in the Van Buren County and around Memphis most of her life. She married Ray Heimer. She moved whenever the need occurred as she raised her family. She had just lately moved to Memphis to be closer to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jay; a sister, Dawn Caviness; two brothers, Lloyd Caviness and Merle Wiley along with a nephew, Jason Forquer.

Survivors include her children, William Edwards, Britney Heimer, Tasha Snelling, Thomas Heimer, Sabrina Heimer all of Memphis; grandchildren, Arianna Edwards and David Edwards of Arkansas and Mikaela Snelling of Memphis; her mother, Alice Caviness of Memphis; sisters, Tina Edwards of Memphis, Katie Curtis of Milton, Angel Spurgeon Stockport, Jayne Dabney Memphis, Betty Armstrong, Eldon, Iowa; a brother, Jerry Caviness of Lee County, IA a sister-in-law, Maxine Heimer of Memphis, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends.

Memorials are suggested to the family for their discretion and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon, December 3, 2013 at the Pittsburg Cemetery in rural Van Buren County, Iowa with Pastor Mark Boley officiating.

Pallbearers were Anthony Curtis, Jeff Forquer, Chris Spurgeon, Cory Spurgeon, Cody Roberts and Stephen Caviness. The honorary pallbearers were Thomas Heimer and William Edwards.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
