OPAL MAURINE COURTNEY

Opal Maurine Courtney, 93, of Bettendorf, IA and formerly of Fort Madison, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at her home in Bettendorf, Iowa.
She was born August 21, 1919 in Stattler Alberta, Canada to Louis Henry Becker and Mary Elizabeth Scott Becker. In 1937 Opal married William Francis Sallee. They later divorced. On February 13, 1949 she married Donald B. Courtney. He passed away on February 19, 2010.
Opal is survived by one son, Darrell Sallee of Ninety-Six, SC, three daughters, Mary Ellen Paros and Barbara Williamson both of Pensacola, FL and Sandra Fraise of Davenport, IA. She is also survived by 10-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Before leaving Ft. Madison in 2012, Opal was an active member of the First Christian Church where she served as deacon. Opal was an employee of the former Andes Candies in Fort Madison. Most importantly she devoted her life to her family.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 just prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Pauline Cemetery in Rutledge, MO.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice Compassus of Davenport, IA.
