LOLA COFFRIN
(2/7/1921 - 12/29/2012)

Lola Verlene (Robinson) Coffrin died December 29, 2012 at Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.

She was born the daughter of Roy Ellis and Vernice Ruth (Evans) Robinson on February 7, 1921 in Henryville in Clark County, IN.

Lola spent her younger days on the family farm with her parents and her brother, Wayne. She graduated from Cantril (IA) High School, where she was valedictorian. Her husband, Bill, commented that Lola was not only the most beautiful girl he ever met, but also the smartest.

She was married to Bill Coffrin on September 5, 1942 at the Methodist parsonage in Gorin by Rev. Arthur Huff. On September 5, 2012 the Coffrins celebrated 70 years of loving marriage. Bill died on October 20, 2012.

To this union was born one very special son, Kenneth William Coffrin, on April 15, 1944, weight four pounds and 8 ľ oz. Lola and Bill grieved the loss of Kenny Bill on July 11, 2011.

During World War II, while Bill was deployed overseas, Lola was employed at the Anglo California National Bank in San Francisco, CA.

Lola was faithful in commitment to worship and service to the Church. Lola Coffrin was received into the McAdow Presbyterian Church on the 11th of August, 1957. She was then received into the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church on April 2, 1961. When Pleasant Hill burned, Lola and Bill joined the First Presbyterian Church in Memphis where they were active members.

She became a wonderful cook after Bill commented to her one day, "when are you going to start cooking sweetie, we are almost out of wedding cake?" She often shared her favorite recipes with others, including her Recipe for Life.

Lola was best known for her creative nature. The decorative linens, Christmas ornaments, paintings and her special writings were all uniquely made by Lola.

The Coffrins had a compassionate, committed marriage. The two were devoted to one another and cherished their time together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, brother, and a nephew, David Robinson.

She is survived by two nephews, Leroy Robinson of Storm Lake, IA and Roger Robinson of Memphis and a niece, Linda Shannon, of Granger.

In our hearts, she will be long remembered for her faithful grace.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 18 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Dana Slavin, pastor of the Memphis First Presbyterian Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Memphis Cemetery. Visitation is an hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Memphis First Presbyterian Church and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service.
