Gorin Board Discusses Annexation Ballot Language During September Meeting
The Gorin R-III Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, September 17th. President Tague called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Alicia Berry was not in attendance.
The board approved the consent agenda items, with the exception of the approval of the August minutes. That item was tabled until the October meeting.
Under old business, Mrs. Townsend informed the board that House Bill 253 was not overridden. Therefore, Gov. Nixon's veto is still in place.
In new business, Mrs. Townsend shared the district's preschool program had begun. The 4-year-old program is being held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 to 12:15.
Next, Mrs. Townsend shared updates regarding the annexation to be placed on the ballot in April. The district has the language as to how the ballot should read. The district will also need to provide a plat of the proposed changes to all affected districts.
The board went to executive session at 6:48 to review information regarding an early childhood special education student. The board returned to regular session at 6:58. At that time they conducted an interview with Mrs. Joy Alexander for the Ĺ day counseling position.
The board also reviewed the resume of Mrs. Staci Whitaker. The board then went into executive session at 7:30 to discuss the candidates. Rhonda Peterson made a motion to offer the position to Joy Alexander. The motion was seconded by Ryan Miller. All members voted in favor. The next regularly scheduled board meeting is Tuesday, October 15th at 6:30 p.m.
