Texaco Country Showdown to Pick Winner at Scotland County Fair
Aspiring country music performers will get a chance to strut their stuff for the crowd once again at the Scotland County Fair.
KMEM 100.5 FM will host the 32nd Annual Texaco Country Showdown in the fairgrounds grandstands on Wednesday, July 10th at 7 p.m.
Each year, more than 50,000 contestants compete in a series of over 450 local, state, and regional live shows held throughout the country. Winners advance to their state events where prizes include $1,000 and the opportunity to compete in one of five regional events. Regional winners receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Finals to compete for $100,000 and the coveted title, "Best New Act in Country Music".
Past regional winners include: Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, and Billy Ray Cyrus. For more info visit www.countryshowdown.com.
Entries for the local showdown will be accepted up until 6 p.m. the night of the show.
Contestants need to provide their own background music. There is a twenty dollar entry fee.
Entry forms are available at KMEM Radio in Memphis, MO or at these local Showdown sponsors: Buddy's Place in Lancaster; FredWreck's Collision Repair in Memphis; Steve's Family Dining and the Exchange Bank in Kahoka, Missouri; Northeast Missouri Rural Telephone Company in Green City, Missouri, and Cantril Feed and Grain in Cantril, Iowa.
The local winner will receive an award and one hundred dollars and fifty cents cash from KMEM Radio, and will advance to further state Showdown competition.
Last year's Showdown winner was Drew Miller of Memphis.
