Rising Costs Forcing Wyaconda Fire Department to Increase Rates
The Wyaconda Rural Fire met recently for their May meeting. Topics discussed were fire dues, monthly expenses, new equipment and fund raising.
It was reported that approximately $1,200 was taken in at the fish fry this year, with a new profit of $875.
Under new business, a discussion was held relative to rising costs of insurance, electricity, and truck upkeep. The board voted to raise dues by $10 per year to $60 for annual membership. This does cover all the land that you own. The board has never increased the dues since the inception in 1979.
"We appreciate everyone's understanding of this increase," said board secretary Sandra Ebeling.
Fall fundraisers were discussed. Joe B. Humes is retiring from the board this year, and Zach Baugh is running for the board in his place.
The next meeting will be June 19th at 7 p.m. at the fire station.
