Swim Team Gears Up for Eighth Season
There will be an informational and sign-up meeting on Monday, May 20 at 5:15 PM at the Legion (swimming pool) Park in Memphis for anyone interested in joining the Memphis Swim Team. All school-age youth are invited to participate.
For the first year, the Memphis Tiger Swim Team will compete as its own team rather than competing with the Can-Oka Swim Team as in the past.
The Memphis Tiger Swim Team joined the River Country Swim League and a schedule of meets follows:
June 20 @ Quincy YMCA, 6:00pm
June 22 @ Kahoka, 10 & Under meet, 10:00am
June 26 @ Sheridan Swim Club (Quincy), 6:00pm
June 29 @ Twin Pikes (Louisiana, MO), 10:00am
July 13 @ Kirksville, 9:00am
July 15 @ Hannibal YMCA, 6:00pm
July 27 @ Kahoka, 10:00am
August 3 @ Sheridan, River Country Championships, TBA
Parents and athletes alike will attest to the positive benefits of participating in organized swimming: great exercise, vast improvement in stroke technique, every child plays/competes in several events, and, most importantly, lots of fun. Because swimming is a life-time sport, enjoyed by people of all ages, skills learned by young swimmers will be used for the rest of their lives.
Due to the competitive nature of the league, participants should have enough skill and courage to swim the length of the pool without stopping to rest.
The team practices most weekday mornings at the pool. Times and dates for practices will be announced at the sign-up. For questions, contact coach Trinity Davis at email@example.com or another swim parent.
