Fundraiser to Help Gorin Firemen Add Tanker Truck
A new tanker truck is on the wish list for the Gorin Fire Department and the volunteer emergency service provider is hoping public support will help them make the goal a reality. The firemen will host their annual fundraiser, Saturday evening at the Gorin R-III School.
The soup supper begins at 5 p.m. for a freewill donation. Carry outs will be available by calling 660-282-3203. A benefit auction will follow at 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the event are earmarked for the department's tanker upgrade project. Through the cooperation of the Missouri Department of Conservation, the department has added a 2007 Freightliner truck. Plans are to use the benefit funds to equip the truck with a 3,400 gallon water storage tank.
The goal for the department is to replace one of its two smaller tanker trucks. Both only have 1,500 gallon capacity. The move would added additional water capacity for fighting fires and would also eliminate one of the older vehicles from the department's six fire truck fleet.
