Zeona Pearl Dean is First Baby of the New Year

After more than 100 babies came into the world in 2012 at Scotland County Hospital, the counter has been reset. Zeona Pearl Dean is the first baby of the New Year born at SCH.
Zeona was born at 4:02 p.m. on Thursday, January 3rd. She weighed eight pounds and 13 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches in length. Parents are April and Daniel Dean of Kahoka. Zeona has two siblings, Dartae and Kidn.
Grandparents are Daryl Bunker of Kahoka, Adrianne Wollney of Keokuk, IA, Phyllis and Darrell Dean of Canton. Great-grandparents are Nancy and Larry Adamson of Kahoka.
Dr. Jeff Davis performed the delivery.
As the first baby of the New Year, Ms. Dean was showered with a number of gifts donated by area merchants.
