Downing Woman Arrested for Shoplifting

A Downing woman is facing a class A misdemeanor charge of stealing following her arrest for shoplifting at the Dollar General Store in Memphis on December 23rd.

According to the Memphis Police Department, Kimberly L. Newcomber, 48, was taken into custody at the store after a number of items were recovered on her person.

Court documents indicate that investigators uncovered 13 items hidden in her purse, and one item hidden in her jogging pants with a total value of less than $30.

Newcomber was transported to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office for booking. She was assigned a January 29th court date prior to being released.
