Overdose Leads to Drug Charges
A Memphis man is facing misdemeanor criminal charges after an apparent drug overdose on December 23rd.
According to the Memphis Police Department, Derek Sanchez, 32, has been charged with the class A misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ambulance personnel were dispatched to Sanchez's residence at 345 S. Market Street on Sunday morning regarding a drug overdose.
Sanchez was transported to Scotland County Hospital after an apparent overdose of prescription medication.
EMS workers identified several pill boxes as well as a syringe and measuring spoon used for injecting the drugs that caused the overdose.
Investigators took possession of the items at the emergency room and logged them as evidence.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Sanchez on December 31st.
