Kahoka Boy Killed in New Year's Eve Crash
A three-year-old Kahoka boy was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle accident in Clark County on New Year's Eve morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 9:55 a.m. on December 31st on U.S. Highway 136, three miles west of Wayland.
Lora K. Jacobson, 31, was eastbound on Highway 136 in a 2003 Ford Focus when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle overturned before coming to rest on its wheels in the ditch.
Sawyer E. Jacobson, age three, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Clark County Coroner Edwin Wilson. Jacobson was secured in a child safety seat.
Lora Jacobson sustained minor injuries in the crash as did Lance N. Jacobson, age one. Both were transported by Clark County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Clark County Ambulance Service, Clark County Rescue Squad and Wayland Fire Department.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Brewer and Sons of Kahoka.
