The unblemished record for Scotland County finally took its first hit on Friday night, but it took overtime for the Lady Tigers to be overcome.

Knox County escaped from Memphis with a 69-64 victory to drop SCR-I to 7-1 on the season.

Scotland County built an early lead behind three-pointers by Katie Howard and Randi Slaughter. Bethany Rader converted a conventional three point play to give SCR-I a 15-14 lead after one period of play.

Megan Creek poured in nine points in the second period and Howard connected again from behind the arc but it wasn't enough, as Knox County pulled ahead 35-32 at the intermission behind a strong first half from Hannah Strange.

In the third quarter, both teams struggled to match their offensive outputs of the first half. SCR-I managed just a pair of field goals, a three-pointer by Slaughter and a bucket by Hailey Dial.

Taylor Lincoln came off the bench to hit a pair of three-pointers for the Lady Eagles as the visitors were able to cling to a 46-43 with just eight minutes to play.

SCR-I rallied down the stretch, including some solid shooting from the free throw line. Howard and Slaughter both canned three-pointers during the run. Creek had six points and Alexis Dodge hit two clutch free throws to help send the game into overtime with the score at 59-59.

Rader converted another three-point play in overtime but the only other bucket for SCR-I came from Creek as Knox County pulled away late. The Lady Eagles made it interesting, by missing seven of 12 free throws at the end of the game to leave the door open for SCR-I, but the Lady Tigers simply could not buy a basket.

Creek finished with 23 points to lead all scorers. Howard had 12 points and both Slaughter and Rader finished with 11 points. Strange led Knox County with 18 points. Devin Gudehus had 14 points and Lincoln pitched in with 13 points.

The Lady Tigers dropped to 3-1 in the Tri-Rivers Conference with the loss.
