Lady Tigers Remain Unbeaten in League Play

Freshman Miranda Holland had a big night versus Putnam County, going 1-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Scotland County took another step closer to an elusive Tri-Rivers Conference crown with a 7-2 victory on September 20th in Unionville.

SCR-I jumped on top of Putnam County 2-0 in the top of the first inning. With two outs, Bethany Rader reached on an error. After Miranda Holland walked, Hailey Dial delivered a two-run single.

The Lady Midgets didn't have an answer for Rader on the mound. The junior hurler retired nine of the first 10 batters she faced.

That helped Scotland County build a 5-0 lead with a lone tally in the third and two more runs in the fourth. Rader drove in Megan Creek with a base hit in the third. All the damage in the fourth came with two outs. Katie Howard singled and came into score on a triple by Creek. She crossed the plate on a base hit by Randi Slaughter.

Unionville trimmed the deficit to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth.

Scotland County got the run right back in the top of the fifth. Holland singled and came in to score on an RBI double by Brieanna Priebe to make it 6-1.

The Lady Tigers tacked on an insurance run in the seventh. Rader doubled to lead off the inning. She scored on a groundout by Holland.

Putnam County rallied in the bottom of the seventh, taking advantage of a pair of errors to load the bases before Rader closed out the 7-2 win.

She allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out six in seven innings of work.

Rader was 2-4 at the plate with a double and a pair of runs scored. Dial went 3-4 with 2 RBIs. Holland was 1-3 with two runs scored.

The win pushes the Lady Tigers record to 8-3 on the season and to 3-0 in the TRC with games versus North Shelby and Schuyler County remaining.
